My friend and I are planning a trip from the UK to New York. So I'm after any suggestions on how to make the most of the 7 to 10 days we'll have there. The trip will probably be in September or October. So give me some suggestions on what to do and where to go, and some advice on what not to do! As I don't know where to start, all ideas are welcome!

i'm in England and returned from New York less than a week ago. I'd be happy to share my expertise with you (limited though it is!) but it might be better if you send me a private mail as well as posting here as my reading of the boards is sporadic at best!

It would be useful to know your budget, your plans and what you want from the trip.
